2025 Winners
Community Roots Garden
The garden serves as a multigenerational space where people of different ages come together around gardening, wellness, food sovereignty, and land stewardship. Its activities include growing and sharing food, seed collection, educational workshops, community film screenings, and collaborative events. The organization is also working to deepen community engagement around food and land sovereignty, with a particular focus on connecting local efforts to broader movements for justice and Indigenous land return.
Rural Vermont
Rural Vermont provides advocacy, education, and community organizing around sustainable and traditional agricultural practices. For roughly 15 years, it has offered affordable on-farm slaughter workshops in partnership with professional slaughterers and host farms, providing hands-on demonstrations, political education, and opportunities for farmers to engage in advocacy. These workshops help preserve agricultural knowledge, support the next generation of farmers, and strengthen Vermont’s local food system.

Farmsteads for Farmers
In Berkshire County, where farmland is rapidly diminishing, the Farmsteads for Farmers campaign is addressing land and housing insecurity for local farmers. By securing land through the Berkshire Community Land Trust, farmers can build equity while practicing regenerative agriculture. The grant will help purchase River Run Farm, providing a sustainable future for farmers and their communities.
Little Lighthouse Farm
Little Lighthouse Farm is an urban regenerative farm focused on providing nutrient-dense food and community education. Grant funds will enhance storage and transportation, improving access to fresh produce and engaging local youth in sustainable practices.

Heart2Heart Farms
Founded by two disabled veterans, Heart2Heart Farms is dedicated to food sovereignty and community service. The grant will enhance their food distribution efforts, allowing them to reach even more families in need while reducing food waste.
Seven Pines Farm
After moving to a rural area to secure raw milk for their family, Seven Pines Farm has expanded to nourish 40 other families. The grant will enhance their micro-dairy operations, improving milk quality and efficiency, while also benefiting those in the community who are lactose intolerant and seeking access to raw dairy.

Located in the Oregon coastal mountains, Farm For Our Lives delivers fresh produce to over 30 households each week. Their initiative to expand operations through dry farming techniques focuses on sustainability and community access to healthy food. The grant will fund the construction of an elk fence to protect crops, further enhancing local food sovereignty.
